Tuesday, May 18th

Hello everyone. Dad passed away today at 10:32 AM. We were all dreading this day and this blog post, but in the end, it was something that we all were praying for. He was a strong man and fought the GREAT fight. He was in complete peace and pain free the last couple of days. We were all by his side at the end holding his hand and giving him all of our love. He is now in complete bliss with his mom and dad and yes, even Brute the old family dog. We've already started joking that he's working with Mom's dad "Homer" on that AWEFUL thing he called a golf swing. Thanks so much to all of you and your support. It's been overwhelming the love and support we have had from so many people and I'm sure it will continue now more than ever. We will keep everyone posted on the memorial service. We know that it will take place at the Hudson Chapel in Ohio some time next week.

Our condolences, along with our thoughts and prayers are with your whole family. We are better people for having known Jim, and will cherish the memories he gave us (especially the, at times, wacky sense of humor he possessed). Jim is now in the hands of the Lord, looking down on the rest of us and laughing at a variety of golf (mis)swings, and flying with wings of his own.

My dear Deb, Matt and Brad,
I can't stop crying; I am so saddened by this news. I can't imagine how much pain you must be in. What a wonderful man Jim was! His memory will live on in our hearts forever. Thanks for setting up and maintaining the blogspot. It was especially nice for those of us so far away. Praying for your strength and endurance during this terrible time of grief. Please let us all know details of funeral arrangements. Will try to get Mom and Dad (Uncle Bill and Aunt Ruth) up to Akron, next week. With sincere sympathy and all my love, Cousin Pam

  4. Cleared for take-off...

He was the best. All of us West Coast Shepherds are feeling a little empty today... but also talking a lot about how awesome he was at the wedding, not to mention all the years before. We were lucky to find him.

    Love,

John, Susan, Natalie, Jack, and Cooper

    Debbie and Sons,

I am truely with you in this very sorrowful time. I can remember a time as a child when it was Jim, my father (Doug Santee), Dave Hickey and the rest of them at the Fire Station. I became a fireman because of them. He is a true HERO. And the financial advice he gave us will last a life-time. He was even so generous to take us flying in March when we were there for vacation. He will be remembered. I know your are proud of him and all of his accomplishments. So are we. I want to thank him an you for being part of our lives. We are a brotherhood. If you need anything, please call me.

  9. Deb, Matt and Brad, it is so hard to find words to express our sadness, it is so awful when you lose one of the best. What great memories we have, what a wonderful gift to keep. Some of the blessings that make life sweet are the special people who share good times and brighten our days. Debbie, Brad & Matt,

I am at a loss for words as well as one of the comments above posted. The Bible says to weep with those who weep. There are really no words at this time that could possibly fill the hole you have in your heart with his presence gone. My prayers are that God will continue to give each of you peace, and comfort as you heal, and that you feel God's love through all of this. It is evident by reading and listening that God has been so present in this whole process, & I am thankful for that. xoxo Tara
